Hey guys,
BREAKING NEWS
I am so excited for the revival that has begun in Lagos, and Obiwon and Glowreeyah Braimah are singing about it y’all. The scripture, ‘I will pour out my spirit on all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions’ has begun to manifest. Indeed, God is set to revive the prophetic in our midst. Right now, I am filled with revival energy fresh off the heels of reading Roberts Liardon’s ‘God’s Generals’ and attending The Lagos Prophetic Conference that took place in August [will blog about these soon as:)], and I am glad to tell you that the prophetic revival is for everyone!
All you need is to thirst for a revival and he will pour out His Spirit upon you, and you will indeed prophesy, see visions and dream dreams all day everyday. It’s so exciting to walk with God, honestly.
This song is another of many more opportunities to key into the revival that has already begun:)
SONG DESCRIPTION
The song ‘Surge‘ starts with a beautifully haunting tone from the piano and the lead guitar, and soon enough, the bass follows at the intro, ushering in Obiwon’s voice. The eclectic drums come in at the first verse as Obiwon sings about the presence of God and liberty in worship. Glowreeyah sings her verse staccato, adding more smack and smoke to the piece!

This song’s C Minor climaxes beautifully at the bridge, with the choir also chanting staccato, con fuoco, and Obiwon complimenting the choir’s staccato with his legato adlibs. I love the pizzicato vibe of the digital violins as the choir coohs ‘oohs’ at the end of the chorus. The song ends with a soft feel of the piano, and a diminuendo in the lead singers’ voices, with the outro teleporting me to Mairo Ese‘s one in ‘You Are The Reason’.

The drums in this piece remind me of Glowreeyah Braimah’s ‘Deliverer’, and so I feel like I know Rotimi Keys ‘producer ways’ a little bit more now. I love the piano accompaniment at the bridge, like a never ending river and how Obiwon pulls the bridge an octave higher in the quintessential rock style reminiscent of Jeremy Camp. Honestly, this song is amazing, and for some reason it reminds me of the rich imagery and magnificent energy in Ty Bello‘s ‘Holy Ghost Air’, but it’s even stronger!!!

FAVOURITE MOMENTS
The theme of revival and the amazing drums on this piece have me exclaiming to the ends of the earth. Also, Obiwon says ‘Holy Spirit, spark something great’, and I am reminded that God is really the one who can do amazing things upon the earth. Glowreeyah reminds me of how dynamic God is when she powerfully sings, ‘send a mighty wind, pour like oil.’
I think my ultimate favourite moment is when Obiwon and Glowreeyah sing in harmonies the line, ‘Search all over the earth’ ad libitum as the choir chant ‘Holy Spirit’. (I think I replayed that part multiple times, lol.)
MESSAGE
God’s grand plan is to pour out his spirit on us afresh that we may dream dreams, see visions and prophesy, so that we may know his agenda and partner with him to effect it in our churches, communities, towns, industries/businesses and country. We are in the last days; the last exciting and delicious days of God’s revival upon the earth.
It is also important to note that these signs and wonders are nothing to be terrified about. You shouldn’t shrug off the moves of the spirit as acts of emotionalism or fanaticism because you would be robbing yourself of so much insight, clarity and the awesome presence of God. The gift of prophecy is your spiritual inheritance in Christ.
Also, it is important to note that God is interested in nations, and not just one nation. He wants nations to rise up, and they do so when we pray.
