#TheFestivalDiaries: Cracking the Code on Prayer| The Festival, 26th August, 2017.

The Festival Petra Christian Centre

Hey Guys!

The fast has officially begun and I’d like to share with y’all how I pray. Usually, when an issue bothers me, I get scriptures concerning that issue ( Could be up to 20), and then I pray those scriptures. I pray them and confess them. Fasting is also in the mix, as well as worship.

As I confess them, I personalise them, confessing in past tense.

I usually start with scriptures that have to do with the leading of the Holy Spirit, so that God can lead me on how to pray:

E.g.

1. Romans 8: 14 Those who are led by the spirit of God, they are the mature sons of God

Personalising and past tense:

I was led by the Spirit of God concerning so and so issue. I was a mature son of God

2. Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left

Personalising and past tense:

Concerning so and so issue, my ears heard a voice behind me saying “This is the way, walk in it”

When I’m not even clear on what the issue is, or when I wake up with a nagging feeling, I pray to God to reveal whatever mystery lies therein.

E.g.

1. Jeremiah 33: 3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Personalising and past tense:

I called to God and He answered me and told me great and unsearchable things I did not knoe about so and so

2. Daniel 2:22 He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.

Personalising and past tense:
God has revealed deep and hidden things to me, including what lay in the darkness

So, long story short, it is important to have a repository of scriptures on various topics you might want to pray for, say healing, prophesy, power, arc

That’s all on tips?
As regards prayers, we were energised in church praying for souls.
Cwesi Oteng’s ‘Kabiyesi’ gave me energy, when I began to feel the hypoglycemic pangs of the fast…lol
What’s your favourite go to praise song?
