Canadian born singer, Avril Lavigne, released a gospel track recently called ‘Head Above Water’, where she bared her soul on her struggle with Lyme disease. This was why she was off the radar for years.
There were times when she felt like she was going to die, and so this song came out of that experience. She literally needed God to keep her alive. My heart went out to her, and I thought this might be a great moment to talk about healing and confessions.
THE TRUTH ABOUT SICKNESS
We as christians need to know that sickness is not of God, and he doesn’t use sickness to teach us any lesson or anything weird like that. Sickness came into this world as a result of sin, and so when Jesus took care of sin on the cross of calvary , he also took care of sickness (Isaiah 53:4, Matthew 8:17). I don’t think it pays to see sickness as a natural phenomenon. Sickness is alien to us as christians because the fullness of the Godhead dwells in us bodily and there’s no space for such things. (Colossians 2:9)
Of course, these thoughts might seem highfalutin, but as the ‘Aye O le’ song by Infinity says, “Aye o le f’eni toni gbagbo p’aye o le” , meaning life is not hard for anybody who thinks life is not hard. Let us embrace our consciousness as people who do not have to be sick. The bible says, ‘No resident of Zion will say, “I am sick”. (Isaiah 33:24)
In addition, God is always on our side, so he’ll keep us from drowning at all times. The bible says, ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.’ (Isaiah 43:2)
DRUGS ARE NOT BAD
I also wanted to point out that coming to the reality of healing is a journey, and I am not in any way advocating us to do stuff like not taking drugs or not seeing the doctor or not doing surgery. But really, maybe glorying in the fact that total health at all times is the possibility of a christian is something to be happy about.
PRAYER AND CONFESSIONS
Another thing I wanted to point out, which I was reminded of is the importance of building an altar of prayer. It is super important, because the bible says the day of trouble will come. So we need to be ready before hand. Super ready. (Ephesians 6:13, Ephesians 5:15-16)
I was also recently reminded that God knows the difference between the thoughts of our hearts and the prayers of our mouths , and it is possible to say things we don’t mean. It is only when we come to the point of full persuasion-the words of our mouths lining up with the thoughts of our hearts-that we begin to see the manifestations of healings that we desire.(2 Corinthians 4:13)
So I would like everyone to be encouraged because we are all on this journey together.
This rock ballad sung on F major, starts with the acoustic guitar, followed by the drums and then the violins and other strings come in. Of course, there’s something super amazing about Avril’s childlike growl, which always touches your heart. You begin to feel the rock in the in the chorus. The backup effects are really cool, and I like how the bridge starts without drums, and the chorus after it does the same. Avril’s music has always been awesomeness:)
Be blessed y’all:)
